The experience
A National Park Service memorial at the breached South Fork Dam, site of the 1889 Johnstown Flood. The Path of the Flood Trail begins near the visitor center and follows the Little Conemaugh River valley along the route the floodwaters took into Johnstown, with trailside markers interpreting the disaster. The corridor is a designated National Recreation Trail used for both hiking and trail running, and continues downstream toward the separate Staple Bend Tunnel unit of Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site.
